La belle miette

If you follow me on instagram you already know by now how macaron-crazy I am.
A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of meeting up with Monica from le chic world, the lovely fashion blogger based in the US.
We headed up to hardware lane to catch up over tea and macarons at la belle miette. For those of you who love macarons (and let's face, it who doesn't?) la belle miette is the place to go. They have amazing flavours and are the nicest ones I've tasted yet. It is the cutest little venue to have a nice cup of tea while admiring the charming decor and colourful macarons in front of you.

Then we walked all over the city taking more photos, as bloggers do!
PS. some of the photos are taken by Monica, check out her lovely blog here

Goodbye autumn

You probably know by now that autumn is my favourite season, (if not, refer to blog name) and it's the last few days of autumn, but I can't even seem to enjoy it as I feel like I'm trapped at home doing all my assignments. Upside is, I finish my degree on the 1st of June, I can see the finish line but this week just won't seem to go by!

WISH winter collection preview

When a group of bloggers meet, there is an explosion of amazing shoes and constant snaps on Iphones and SLRs. Add a collection of clothes to the mix and there's no stopping us! It was such a great afternoon spent with some super stylish fellow bloggers; catching up, trying on WISH clothes and ofcourse taking dozens of photos.
The collection was in no doubt filled with must have pieces including a gorgeous collection of fur jackets, vests and scarves that were ever so soft.
The WISH team was so nice and hospitable from the moment we got there. In general it was such a happy and fun atmosphere, so thank you WISH for having us!

The uber stylish sister duo Rachel and Esther from Estelle La Mode being photographed by the lovely
Madeline from the WISH team.
I always enjoy seeing Miranda from Miranda's Inside Scoop, she brings such a fun energy to the room.
Here, she's trying one of WISH's playsuits.
Tish from Mister Mode trying out one of my favourite pieces in the collection.
The super cute Nicole from blank bird trying on some gorgeous WISH items, love that print!
Loved finally meeting Twee in person, she has such a unique style that you can see in her
 blog and online store.

Leather navy

There is something so magical about autumn in the city; as you probably know from the name of my blog, it's my favourite season. Despite the cold, I find it so inspiring and just love incorporating it in my outfits through colours, materials or even layering. Who doesn't love classic or edgy coats, stylish jackets and stunning boots?

10 things I learned at Fashionopolis

If you’ve seen Fashionopolis related posts all over the blogosphere, I’m about to add one more to it!
One of my readers suggested I include what I learned at this conference since many fashion bloggers couldn’t attend it.  Truth is there’s so much I learned and so much I already knew but was assured on the day.
So here are some key points I think will be useful for any of you bloggers out there.

Ten things I learned at fashionopolis:

1.     Different means of social media, like twitter, facebook, pinterest and tumblr, play different roles, so don’t neglect any or treat them all in the same manner.

2.     Your blog is your brand; make sure you are on all social media platforms promoting it (without spamming of course!)

3.     How you act on social media is very important; stay positive and don’t swear, use foul language or attack others.

4.     Readers are most likely to watch your videos rather than read your posts, so try to diversify and venture into new creative ways to reach your audience.

5.     Imagery is currency; you have to get your readers’ attention by posting beautiful, great quality photographs. Avoid mirror shots and ugly/cluttered backgrounds that will distract from the main subject.

6.     Always showcase original content on your blog. Your readers can go to many other blogs and websites for editorial photos and press. Make sure you bring something new to the table.

7.     Update your blog consistently with new content so your readers keep coming back.

8.     Always have a business card on you with your blog URL and e-mail so you give them out when needed.

9.     Check your spelling and grammar, readers always pick up on mistakes and it makes you look less professional.

10. Never plagiarise; make sure you always credit and mention the original source.
I included some photos from Nuffnang’s fb album which I loved!
You can also check out all the Fashionopolis related posts by many of the bloggers who attended the event: http://www.nuffnang.com.au/blog/2012/05/14/nuffnang-fashionopolis-link-up/

Giveaway winner

I have just woken up from 17 hours of sleep; yes you read it right, seventeen! It’s because of all the all-nighters that I’ve been pulling to try and get my work finished in time but there are still 2 more weeks left of this! So with that said, I ask you to be patient with my blog for these 2 weeks as I probably won’t have much time to post new content if I want to finish this degree in June.
Wish me luck! x

Now to announce the lucky winner from my one year blogiversary giveaway:

Fashionopolis 2012

Your Blog, Your Brand; one of the key points covered at Nuffnang’s Fashionopolis first ever fashion blogging conference hosted by Lady Melbourne herself, Phoebe Montague.
To establish your blog as a brand, Phoebe explained how important it is to keep your audience coming back by posting great photos, checking your spelling and grammar, and uploading content consistently.
We received some great advice from experienced panels from many aspects of the fashion industry like Patty Huntington, Sarah Gale, Jenny Bannister, Philip Boon, Kyra Pybus, David Krupp, and Amber Venz.
As I mentioned briefly in the earlier post, not only was it a great educational experience but also a great way to meet so many amazingly stylish and talented fellow bloggers in person.

The idea of putting 150 fabulous fashion bloggers under one roof, including some established bloggers, some new comers and some aspiring bloggers, is absolutely genius. The gorgeously decorated venue was overwhelmed with stylish garments, stunning shoes, and beautiful ladies.

Overall, I think the event was a smashing success and I’d like to thank Lady Melbourne, Nuffnang, and everyone who worked on making this a great experience for all of us.

 The gorgeous host Lady Melbourne
Sitting next to the two gorgeous ladies Michelle Michelle's Style Files and Monica from Le world chic.
It was so nice to finally meet Michelle in person, she is absolutely lovely! And I'm VERY happy I convinced Monica to come to the event and got the chance to see her again before she went back to the US.
It was great seeing my lovely friend Leeyong from Style Wilderness; How gorgeous does she look?! Love her op shop treasure finds and her jewellery that she made herself.
It was truly great meeting Delia in person, the founder of whatshouldiwear.com.au where I enjoy occasionally writing in her blog section. Along with the adorable Little Jimmy's Girl who is also a part of the lovely WSIW community.
Really enjoyed talking to Cecylia from cecylia.com and finally meeting her in person, she looked absolutely stunning!
I was so happy to meet the STUNNING Dasha from The Trend Spotter who rocked her RMK shoes, which I had been lusting over ever since I saw it on their fb page a few weeks prior. And we were probably the two tallest ladies in the room!
So glad I finally met my twitter buddy Nicole from Blank Bird who looked adorable with her signature printed pants. As well as Sam from Style Paws in her cute polka-dot blouse and Charmaine from Heart+Bleecker who flew in from Perth looking ever so lovely.
My vibrant and beautiful friend Miranda from Miranda's Inside Scoop who you've seen before on this blog. Attendees were constantly asking to take photos of her funky hairstyle, can you blame them?
It was great catching up with my friend Diya and spending some more time with my new friends Nicole and Jihee at the afterparty at Carlton Club Hotel. Loved talking to one of the speakers at the conference Kyra from Pybus PR and sharing experiences we've had in Dubai.

I couldn't possibly fit all the photos I wanted to post, so you can view them here on my fb page

Fasionopolis: what I wore

Yesterday I attended Nuffnang's Fashionopolis hosted by the one and only Lady Melbourne, Phoebe Montague.
It was very informative and a great place to network and meet other bloggers as well as finally meet some in person!
I will be posting photos of the event soon so stay tuned!
hope you all had a lovely weekend too x

I couldn't wait to wear those Celine inspired Topshop beauties (still kicking myself for not buying the original Celine versions I saw for 70% off in an outlet mall in Dubai)

Can't wait until I'm done with my degree so I can focus more on my jewellery line (3 weeks and counting!)
This is a sneak peek of what to expect, I hope you like it!

Flirty prints

One of this season's big trends is floral pants and we've seen so many versions of them, especially the ASOS ones as seen on many fashion blogs. I spotted these H&M pair online and really wanted to get them, especially since they were really cheap too! Only problem was, I wasn't in Dubai at the time and I won't be going until December. But, my dad who works there was coming to visit us a month later, so I took the opportunity and sent him a photo of them (and a few other things) by e-mail and he actually went and got them for me! Love my dad.

On a different note, I will be attending Nuffnang's Fashionopolis on Saturday and can't wait to meet all the wonderful Aussie fashion bloggers! it's going to be a whole day of learning about fashion blogging, meeting and chatting to amazing established bloggers and new comers, and ofcourse clicking photos; we wouldn't be bloggers without photos!

PS. Only 5 days left to enter my 1 Year Blogiversary Giveaway, don't miss out! x
