Spring essentials for under $100

As you know, Spring in Melbourne is usually the most unpredictable season when it comes to the weather forecast. And with this, comes the dilemma of curating the most versatile outfit options of the year. I’ve selected a few key pieces I tend to utilize a lot throughout the year really, but especially in Spring.

The black blazer:

The everyday dress:

The black tank top:

The white blouse:

Clash

I'm sure I have mentioned this before, but my idea of the perfect outfit is one which is versatile. And what is more versatile than a black and white dress? Classic, easy and effortless, this Wish Clash dress is just that. I love wearing this dress with sandals or with stalkings and high heeled boots, since the weather is still pretty chilly.

Basics: white converse & black

Lately I've been trying to collect basic pieces because I've realised I tend to impulse buy and end up wearing an item of clothing once, or sometimes never! So I'm loving my tops (like the black one below) and non- high heeled shoes, especially that I barely have a social life until I'm finished with my degree; everyday basics are crucial in my closet.

I've been meaning to get white converse sneakers for a while now, to add to my collection of purple and black. Thanks to Surfstitch my converse collection is now complete (for now). The best part was I didn't even have to go out to buy it from the shops because they have free returns and super fast delivery.

Black top: West sweet via Surfstitch (also in pink

Spring racing dresses

It's that time of the year again, spring racing season is upon us and like every year it's the most hectic part of my uni semester so I am once again unable to attend. But, one of the reasons people love the races is the fashion! And I'm not going to let uni keep me from doing some online window shopping. And if you're lucky enough to be going, hope these provide some inspiration for your outfit choices.

Spade Of Hearts giveaway

The latest 7AL giveaway is this gorgeous bracelet from the new Melbourne-based online jewellery store Spade Of Hearts. Details of entering the giveaway are mentioned below but first, get to know the SOH co-owner and creative director as I ask her a few questions about the store and how it came about.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what made you start Spade of Hearts

I’m Tamar, a 22 year old marketing and events graduate with a background working in fashion events, and I’ve teamed up with my gorgeous aunt/godmother, Taline, who has 26 years of jewellery experience behind her, to create the exciting new Australian fashion jewellery label Spade Of Hearts. The idea to start Spade Of Hearts came from a mutual love of jewellery between the two of us. We have always been a close pair and hunting beautiful pieces and swapping them as gifts has been going on ever since I can remember! It was a love of ours, and when the opportunity arose between graduate job-hunting misfortunes, we knew it was the time more than ever, to make the jump and make our passion our career.

Describe your label and what it offers.

Spade Of Hearts is an affordable and accessible Australian jewellery label, available online only . We base our collections on versatility; we want our buyers to get the most out of their purchases being able to wear them to work, to dinner dates, out dancing, as basics or as statements. We’re also an incredibly hands on team at SOH (Spade Of Hearts). Our buyers source all of products directly, minimising middleman mark ups ensuring our prices stay grounded, and our buyers get the most out of their hard earned cash. Every item is hand picked and limited edition. Our pieces range from one-of-a-kind up to 5 in quantity. This is our point of difference because it means we are able to keep prices nice and low leaving no room to discount, and more excitingly, it means we are able to continuously bring in different styles at a more rapid pace!

Where do you see the brand in 5 years?

We would love to expand Spade Of Hearts into other fashion areas such as bags and clothing. We want to be able to provide Aussie fashion enthusiasts with uncommon yet in-trend items, without being mass produced and also without the crazy price tag you usually see on such pieces. We love where this journey has taken us so far and are completely committed to keeping the label grounded no matter where it takes us!
