Fashion For Relief

Naomi Campbell’s Fashion for Relief charity auction fashion show was held in Cannes, to raise money for the Japanese Red Cross. She teamed up with Bruce Forsyth and the catwalk was filled with supermodels and stars.

Naomi wore dresses by Yves Saint Laurent, Marchesa and Alexander McQueen.

This one's an Alexander McQueen dress from their SS 2011 collection

This dress is just so beautifully detailed

The models, including Yasmine Le Bond, Karolina Kurkova and Victoria Silvstedt, wore dresses by designers Lanvin, Valentino, Jean Paul Gaultier, Sonia Rykiel and a few others. These are my favourite picks:

This is probably my favourite colour on a dress. It's simply amazing; I'm in love with this colour

I was never particularly fond of yellow to be honest, but lately I've been drawn to so many yellow dresses and now I'm determined to purchase one.

This gown screams elegance, i really like the feel of separation that the beige creates between the top and bottom.

Jane Fonda closed the show wearing this gorgeous gold Marchesa evening gown.

Simply beautiful, graceful and elegant. loving the shoulders.

California wishin...that house was mine

“California King Bed,” is the new single from Rihanna’s platinum album ‘Loud’ and was directed by Anthony Mandler in Los Angeles.
I’m in love with the glass pavilion-type of house shown as her bedroom in the video
I just kept focusing on that throughout the video (maybe its just the interior designer in me) but I screen captured some shots and voila! Here they are:

And I don’t know about you guys but I think I’m over the bright, fiery red hair. It’s so unnatural and I get she was going for the shock tactic and trying something different but its time to try something else now! Even though I have to admit this video was the only time I didn’t mind the hair that much, because it was nicely styled and the colour kind of went with the colour scheme of the video so it worked out I suppose; but other than that…it has to go.

Neck-Laced

It’s safe to say it’s hard to accessorize everyday when I wake up early for uni and throw anything on because well... I’m only going to class.
But when I think about it I have a drawer full of accessories that I barely use unless I go out on weekends, which is quite sad really
And here’s the thing, I absolutely love accessorizing and my latest obsession has been with necklaces
Blake Lively always looks stunning, on set and off. Ofcourse it does help that she’s drop-dead-gorgeous to begin with!
While watching gossip girl I noticed she wears a lot of necklaces on the show and I LOVE them
Here are a few of them that I found online:

Caroline necklace in season 2

I couldn't find who this turquoise stone necklace was by, but it's great.

Carla Reiter Diamond Copper Necklace

Suzanna Dai "Antwerp" necklace                                     Slane and Slane layered necklace

I'm not sure i like this necklace alone but it goes great
with her outfit, i guess it all depends on what you wear
it with.

Serena in an Oscar De La Renta necklace
This should be an ad or something she looks amazing in this photo

Susana Galanis necklace (and that’s a gorgeous J. Mendel dress)

DANNIJO necklace (and a J. Mendel dress again)

Of course Serena is not the only fashionista in the show, most of the things worn by any of the characters on that show is to die for.

Jessica Szohr (Vanessa Abrams) in a Simon Tu necklace
This is my all time favourite Vanessa Abrams look

Katie Cassidy (Juliet Sharp) in Ranjana Khan
Katie Cassidy is always gorgeous i was so happy when i found out she was going to be in the series

Alexander McQueen the Great

Alexander McQueen has always been my favourite designer, and I was shattered when i learned he passed away last year
But he definitely left behind his legacy and influence in the fashion world.
He was known for his unconventional designs and shock tactics and avant-garde shows. I thought his designs were always unique and a little out-there yet elegant and romantic.
His shows always displayed theatrical brilliance, which left his audience in awe and intrigue, and also inspired by his daring creations.
Some of his most memorable shows include: the human chess game in his Spring collection of 2005, and, the girl who lived in the tree (inspired from his trip to India) in his Fall collection of 2008.

The Metropolitan Museum of Arts in NYC is celebrating his works in an exhibit called “Savage Beauty” which opened on Wednesday and is running until the 31st of July (which I’m REALLY hoping I get the chance to attend when I visit NY this July)
Many stars showed up to the preview gala on Monday. Some paid tribute by wearing Alexander McQueen.

Salma Hayek wearing an Alexander McQueen couture Peach organza Rose dress, Samurai sandals (Pre SS11) & Clear Perspex clutch (SS11)
Sarah Jessica Parker wearing an Alexander McQueen Silver crystal embellished dress (AW05)

Gisele Bündchen wearing an Alexander McQueen Red bustier fin tail gown (AW05) & Black lace knuckle box clutch (Pre AW11)

Karen Elson wearing an Alexander McQueen Silver embroidered chiffon dress with scoop back (SS04) & Ivory satin clutch (AW11)

Royal Attire

I had to mention the Royal wedding last Friday, where the bride and maid of honour sparkled in Alexander McQueen gowns fit for a fairy-tale wedding

Kate Middleton’s first wedding dress by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen was conservative, simple and elegant, very suitable for a royal dress; and the detailing was just remarkable.

The second dress (also by Sarah Burton) is just as exquisite and elegant.

And let’s not forget her sister and maid of honour, Pippa Middleton, who also shined (some may argue she out-shined the bride herself) in a long white Alexander McQueen gown with the beautiful buttons at the back
