Seven Autumn Leaves turns 2

This month marks the two-year anniversary of Seven Autumn Leaves blog. I started this blog as a creative outlet and to have a platform that enables me to talk about fashion-related topics. In the past two years, I have had many great opportunities, met some amazing people but most of all I learned a lot about things that are beyond just ‘fashion’. I’ve learned a lot about the industry in general and also learned a lot about myself, and my personal style through experimentation. By taking some time off lately to focus on finishing off my masters, I have had the time to focus and reflect on what my blog is really about. I want it to be somewhere I share my personal style (fashion faux-pas and all) but I also want to take it to a new level this year and try to occasionally write about topics that I find interesting and want to share with my readers, still fashion related ofcourse. I don’t want it to just be about my outfits and events or travel, although these will still be an integral part of the blog.

I want to thank you all for being supportive by visiting my page, leaving sweet comments, liking photos on my fb page or Instagram, and just plain being awesome. I can’t wait to see where the next year takes us!

Video: Seven Autumn Leaves at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia

Another city, another video diary. I'm enjoying making these travel video diaries lately; it's just so much fun to try and get better at taking the footage, putting it together and editing. And even though this trip was only a short 2 days, I managed to get just the right amount to perfectly fit the 2 minute intro song from the xx album (which I love btw!)

So hope you enjoy it!

The second day I was in Sydney for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, I got the chance to run into many of my favourite Melbourne people and carried on my stye stalking.

MBFW outfit 2

The timeout magazine from my hotel room in the last picture sums up my short 2-day trip perfectly; it was an escape. I've been feeling so overwhelmed with submissions and presentations every week that I haven't had time for anything else and it's made me forget why I even decided to do my masters in the first place! This was a great 2-day vacation from everything back here in Melbourne and I just wish I could have come for the entire week.

I decided to take a more laid back approach for my second outfit pairing it up ofcourse with my own Seven Autumn Leaves necklace. I also got a chance to wear my DIY feather skirt for the second time.

I didn't get a lot of photos that day so I decided to borrow some off herfashionbox.com who took street style photos of me; so only the first and last two photos are my own.

MBFW streetstyle and people 1

Ofcourse going to fashion week, seeing what others are wearing and meeting people are just as important as the shows themselves. I didn't take a lot of streetstyle shots (next time I will, I promise) but here's who I spotted in my first day there:

Jayson Brunsdon at MBFW

Sorry it has taken me a while to upload photos of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Sydney last week, but I've just had so many assignments due and I've also been sick all week, so that didn't help either...

In this collection, Jayson focused on shape and form added to his usual feminine, graceful and timeless elements that he is known for. This collection marked the label's 10th year anniversary and showcased what he has to offer for another 10 years to come.

I took a lot of photos so it was really hard to choose just a few but hope you enjoy them!

MBFW outfit 1 - dark lips and tassels

I attended my first Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Sydney this week and although I could only make it for the second and third day, I got the chance to dress up, experiment and enjoy watching others who did the same thing!

For my first outfit, I broke out my tassel skirt which I bought a few months ago but never really had the chance to wear it, just like the other 50% of my wardrobe (ha!). Same goes for my dark lipstick, as I just bought it about a month ago and I was a bit hesitant to use it but I ended up getting a lot of compliments on it and people asking me which lipstick I had used (it's Rimmel number 04 btw).

The necklace I'm wearing is one of my Seven Autumn Leaves creations that I'm currently working on and I'm excited to give you a colour variety! This design will be available soon but don't hesitate to let me know what you think of it.

Wardrobe staples

From designer fashion tees to smart, stylish blouses, when it comes to dressing to impress, the humble shirt is a wardrobe style staple.

The classic tee

The essential, figure-hugging t-shirt can be styled up or styled down. For a laid-back yet luxury panache, try tucking a simple white tee into a statement pencil skirt.

Alternatively, wear with a tailored blazer and dark denim skinny jeans for a dressed down office ensemble. When choosing a t-shirt style to suit both your daily needs and your shape it is important to opt for a flattering neckline. Some of the more popular styles for 2013 include both high crew and v-neck styles.

The vintage tee

A number of A-list celebrities are often spotted sporting the vintage tee. If you wish to recreate this trend, you must acquire a style that appears washed out with a retro slogan. Team with a feminine skirt for a lady-like look with an edge or otherwise opt for distressed denim for the ultimate in rock chic.

The boyfriend shirt

A slouchy, oversized tee that hangs off one shoulder is the perfect off-duty style, especially when teamed with wet-look leggings and military jacket. The skin tight leggings take the sloppiness out of the look, whilst the army-style jacket makes for a killer retro ensemble.

Make it graphic

Print women’s shirts are having a bit of a fashion moment at present, and the loud, statement t-shirt is a favourite of many celebs. Avoid a mish-mash of styles by keeping the rest of the outfit simple.

Sailor stripes

The nautical theme is a timeless classic and one that has been on the runway for several seasons. The beauty of stripes is the fact that you are unable to go wrong with them. Team with bling accessories and skinny jeans for a high fashion look or otherwise opt for a preppy style with loose trousers and shades. This staple wardrobe essential will come in handy on those ‘nothing to wear’ days.

White blazer and baroque pants

Happy Easter everyone! Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend, even though those of us living in Melbourne are experiencing a drastic weather change from really hot to FREEZING! Okay, enough about the weather and onto the outfit post:

This was my Easter outfit which I wore yesterday to church. I absolutely LOVE my white Mango blazer I got from Dubai about a year and a half ago. It just brightens all my black clothes ( trust me I have a lot of them); which is what I did with this outfit. This was the first time I wear my baroque pants after looking for a pair for so long because as you know, I'm a little obsessed with baroque prints. I also included a few key rose-gold accessories, including my favourite watch.

Oh, and I got a haircut! What do you think of the straight fringe?
